Dawn Richard<\/a> has revealed details of her first solo album in half a decade. Creole Culture<\/em><\/a> arrives October 9 via Merge<\/a>. Big Freedia<\/a> guests on the opening track. Richard has also shared \u201cEnough,\u201d a second taste of the LP following \u201cBaby, Can We?<\/a>\u201d, her June single with Durand Bernarr. Listen below.<\/p>\n In press materials, Richard described \u201cEnough\u201d as being about \u201cunlearning the lie that your value has to be earned.\u201d She added, \u201cSometimes the greatest act of resistance is believing you were always worthy.\u201d<\/p>\n According to Richard, Creole Culture<\/em> completes a trilogy that began with her 2019 album New Breed<\/em><\/a> and continued with 2021\u2019s Second Line: An Electro Revival<\/em><\/a>. “New Breed<\/em> was the story of New Orleans through my father\u2019s eyes,\u201d she said. \u201cSecond Line<\/em> was my mom\u2026but the story felt unfinished, like my version of the story was untold.\u201d<\/p>\n Since 2021, Richard has collaborated with neoclassical composer Spencer Zahn on two albums\u20142022\u2019s Pigments<\/em><\/a> and 2024\u2019s Quiet in a World Full of Noise<\/em><\/a>.
