\n\tAfter a heartfelt performance at Glen Hansard\u2019s funeral<\/a> on Tuesday, U2<\/a> shared the \u201cBeautiful Day\u201d lyrics Bono<\/a> and the Edge<\/a> reworked for the occasion. <\/p>\n \n\t\u201cYesterday at Glen Hansard<\/a>\u2019s send-off at St. Patrick\u2019s Cathedral Bono played a voice message from Patti Smith\u2026 her first reaction to hearing the news of Glen\u2019s passing,\u201d the band shared on Instagram<\/a> following the funeral. \u201cIt\u2019s a lullaby for Glen\u2019s family\u2026 which was followed by Beautiful Day rewritten by Bono and Edge for Glen.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tThe band posted the new lyrics in the caption and on the image of a painting of Hansard by artist Colin Davidson. They read: \u201cSee those eyes flashing landing light blue\/ Seven towers holding up the sky for you\/ Arrivals and departures, this is what we do\/ You write your life \u2018til the story becomes true\/ Ginger cake smile, a movie star too\/ If the street be your stage how come there\u2019s thousands in the queue\/ McDaid\u2019s feels like a stadium but there\u2019s only me and you\/ You left a hangover from hell, of this there is no doubt\/ But as you wake up in heaven, all the angels will shout.\u201d <\/p>\n \n\tDuring the funeral, held at St. Patrick\u2019s Cathedral in Dublin\u00a0, Bono\u00a0played a musical voicemail from Smith before reciting the lyrics of \u201cBeautiful Day.\u201d\u00a0Eddie Vedder\u00a0performed Hansard\u2019s \u201cThe Song of Good Hope\u201d with Mark\u00e9ta Irglov\u00e1,\u00a0who shared the 2008 best original song Oscar with Hansard for \u201cFalling Slowly\u201d from\u00a0Once<\/em>. Both singers joined a group performance of Bob Dylan\u2019s \u201cForever Young.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
