No cause of death was provided.\u201d \u201cIt is with profound sadness that the family and friends of William Orbit announce that William passed away at home on 23rd July 2026,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-instagram wp-block-embed-instagram\"\/>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cWe are deeply saddened by his passing. He will be greatly missed by us and by so many whose lives he touched through his music, friendship and kindness. We kindly ask that the privacy of William\u2019s family and close friends is respected during this difficult time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tOrbit was a member of the electronic music trio Torch Song in the early 1980s, releasing three albums on the IRS label before moving into music production, including creating the soundtrack for the 1986 hockey film <em>Youngblood<\/em>. After leading the electronic music project Bassomatic in the early 1990s and producing Beth Orton\u2019s 1993 trip-hop album <em>Superpinkymandy<\/em>, Orbit created remixes for Madonna\u2019s \u201cJustify My Love\u201d and \u201cErotica,\u201d which laid the groundwork for a larger collaboration with the Material Girl on her Grammy-winning 1998 LP <em>Ray of Light<\/em>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\">\n<p>\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Madonna - Ray Of Light (Official Video) [HD]\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/x3ov9USxVxY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThe album would go on to win Best Pop Album (and be nominated for Album of the Year) at the Grammys, while the title track won Best Dance Recording. Orbit\u2019s work with Madonna continued with the <em>Austin Powers<\/em> hit \u201cBeautiful Stranger\u201d and a trio of tracks on her 2000 album <em>Music<\/em>.
