Geddy Lee<\/a>, Alex Lifeson<\/a> and Anika Nilles<\/a> recalled the Spinal Tap<\/a><\/em> moments that took place during the first song of Rush<\/a>\u2019s reunion tour.<\/p>\n The trio, together with keyboardist Loren Gold<\/a>, had rehearsed heavily \u2013 performing 24 complete concert sets in 27 days \u2013 before they took the stage at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles on Jun. 7<\/a>.<\/p>\n But that didn\u2019t prepare them for the incidents that unfolded as they started into opening number \u201cXanadu.\u201d<\/p>\n READ MORE:<\/strong>\u00a0Why Rush Isn\u2019t Thinking About New Music<\/a><\/p>\n That\u2019s when they realized there was too much stage fog billowing around them, as they told Rolling Stone<\/em><\/a> in a new interview.<\/p>\n \u201cI was, surprisingly, not really that nervous,\u201d Lifeson said of the moments leading up to showtime. His feelings changed when he couldn\u2019t find his effects pedals on the floor beneath him.<\/p>\n \u201cWe were drowning in fog!\u201d Lee remembered, explaining that not only were his own pedals invisible, but so was the mirror he used to maintain a connection with Nilles behind her drums.<\/p>\n Nilles had her own problem to contend with \u2013 soon after the song began she dropped one of her sticks. \u201cDon\u2019t f\u2013\u2013k this up,\u201d she\u2019d just told herself; then, \u201cI saw this stick flying over the toms.\u201d<\/p>\n She managed to grab it back before it disappeared, only missing a few strikes in the process. \u201cIt happens,\u201d she said. \u201cYou drop the stick. As a drummer, you\u2019re used to it.\u201d<\/p>\n Lee, who\u2019d seen the stick go flying and had suffered a moment of concern, said: \u201cShe\u2019s a pro.
