Announce Fifth Album &#8216;Dopamine Chamber&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tIrish post-punk band <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/fontaines-d-c\/\" id=\"auto-tag_fontaines-d-c\" data-tag=\"fontaines-d-c\">Fontaines D.C.<\/a> are officially back and have announced their fifth album. <em>Dopamine Chamber<\/em> arrives on\u00a0Oct. 16 via\u00a0XL Recordings and the record\u2019s lead single, \u201cMarianne,\u201d is out now.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cMarianne\u201d pulls from the same post-punk chords of their last album <em>Romance<\/em>. With atmospheric drums and brooding guitar, Chatten beckons the listener to him like a snake oil salesman: \u201cThis year, you should come and stay here,\u201d he sings. \u201cYou can follow my lead\/I can help you disappear.\u201d \u201cMarianne\u201d takes partial inspiration in the 2024 miniseries <em>Ripley<\/em>, which starred fellow Irishman Andrew Scott. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\">\n<p>\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Fontaines D.C. - Marianne (Official Audio)\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/V68KvutX9vw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t<em>Dopamine Chamber <\/em>was produced by James Ford, who produced <em>Romance<\/em>. Per a press release, <em>Dopamine Chamber<\/em>\u2018s material will encompass the news items we see in our endless scroll, including the rise of AI, celebrity gossip, political violence, the existential threat of climate change, and all the gratifying memes they spawn. \u201cThe album itself is a dopamine chamber,\u201d frontman Grian Chatten said in a statement. \u201cYou step inside and we test these different mind or mood-altering pieces of music on you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cOur albums have always questioned a sense of place,\u201d bassist\u00a0Conor Deegan added. \u201cFirst Dublin, then being away from Dublin, and then trying to find the romance elsewhere. On this record, the question became: where do you escape to?\u201d To that point, Chatten himself spent a period traveling through Venice and Sicily in Italy and Vienna, Austria while writing the record. Likewise, <em>Dopamine Chamber <\/em>was recorded in various locales, including London, the English countryside, and Palermo, Italy, where Chatten built a DIY booth from mattresses and cushions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cI think<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><em>Romance<\/em><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>was maybe 60 percent human and 40 percent corrupted by automation, and a loss of feeling,\u201d Chatten continued. \u201cThis one feels more like 60 percent corrupted \u2014 the mask is wearing the face a little more. \u2026 I felt it would be more powerful to leave the hope out and reflect the ugliness honestly.
