After much<\/a> teasing<\/a>, Fontaines D.C.<\/a> have announced their fifth studio album; Dopamine Chamber<\/em> is out October 16 via XL. The lead single, \u201cMarianne<\/a>,\u201d is out now and comes with a music video helmed by Dave Meyers<\/a>, the go-to director for some of pop<\/a> and hip-hop<\/a>\u2019s internet-breaking<\/a> visuals<\/a>. Check it out below.<\/p>\n Dopamine Chamber<\/em> was produced by James Ford and follows the Irish band\u2019s 2024 album Romance<\/em><\/a>, which has since been certified platinum, helping Fontaines D.C. achieve mainstream success with hits \u201cFavourite\u201d and \u201cStarburster.\u201d They don\u2019t seem to be embracing that view from up top, though. \u201cMarianne\u201d is billed as a song about escapism that\u2019s partially inspired by the 2024 thriller series Ripley<\/em>, setting up an album that supposedly questions what it means to pursue pleasures in a darkening world.<\/p>\n In a press release, Fontaines D.C. singer Grian Chatten said he spent time in Venice, Vienna, and Sicily searching for lyrical inspiration. \u201cI think Romance<\/em> was maybe 60 per cent human and 40 per cent corrupted by automation, and a loss of feeling,\u201d he said. \u201cThis one feels more like 60 per cent corrupted\u2014the mask is wearing the face a little more. I felt it would be more powerful to leave the hope out and reflect the ugliness honestly.
