Dolly Parton<\/a> was laid to rest after a private funeral in Nashville on Friday, Aug. 28.<\/p>\n The singer died on Aug. 25<\/a> following a \u201cbrief battle with cancer.\u201d While her passing led to an outpouring of tributes from around the globe, Parton\u2019s funeral was deliberately intimate event with only immediate family in attendance. Representatives for the late-singer had previously announced there would be a \u201csmall, private service\u201d at \u201cDolly\u2019s request.\u201d<\/p>\n According to People<\/em><\/a>, Parton was \u201clikely laid to rest beside Carl Dean, her husband of nearly 60 years, at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Nashville.\u201d Dean was interred in a mausoleum at the cemetery following his death in March 2025. A large plaque at the site featured the names of Dean and Parton, along with the couple\u2019s wedding date, a pair of intertwining wedding bands\u00a0and\u00a0the images of two houses, including Dolly\u2019s childhood home.<\/p>\n READ MORE: Rockers Pay Tribute to Dolly Parton<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n While details of Parton\u2019s funeral were not made public, Lainey Parton \u2013 Dolly\u2019s great-niece \u2013 shared her feelings following the service on Instagram<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is a really hard post for me to make. I wanted to wait until after my granny was laid to rest yesterday before I tried to put any of this into words,\u201d Lainey wrote. \u201cFrom the time I was little, my granny always had a way of making me feel like I was enough. She never made my dreams feel too big or made me feel like I couldn\u2019t do something. She believed in me before I even knew how to believe in myself,\u201d she continued. \u201cMost people can think of at least one bad memory with everyone in their family.
