Mayer admitted he\u2019s still coming to grips with the loss of Weir, an idol turned close friend whom he shared the stage with for over a decade. The future of Dead and Company \u2013 if there is one \u2013 remains something he\u2019ll figure out further down the line.<\/p>\n
\u201cI kind of want to wallow a little,\u201d Mayer noted. \u201cI kind of \u2013 I think it\u2019s important sometimes to say, \u2018Well, that\u2019s that,\u2019 so that you can feel it and go through that and mourn that, so I hope people understand that, and if they don\u2019t, then maybe I\u2019ve sort of helped. I don\u2019t have any specific plan [moving forward].\u201d<\/p>\n
With Weir\u2019s death, Mickey Hart<\/a> is now the last former Grateful Dead member in Dead and Company\u2019s lineup. Bill Kreutzmann, the Grateful Dead\u2019s last surviving original<\/em> member, was previously in the band until departing in 2023, and could at least hypothetically return should Dead and Company decide to continue.<\/p>\n\n
