Say Anything<\/a>\u2019s Max Bemis has postponed a series of upcoming acoustic performances amid allegations that he sent inappropriate messages to underage fans. On August 29, Say Anything announced on Instagram<\/a> that Bemis would take a step back \u201cdue to the need to prioritize his mental health and personal well-being.\u201d<\/p>\n Accusations of inappropriate behavior by Williams were first levied last week, when screenshots of his alleged flirtatious messages with two teenaged fans were shared to the Say Anything subreddit. The allegations have also shed uncertainty on the status of a forthcoming collaborative album<\/a> between the band and Wavves, Cherry Soda<\/em>, which is set to drop on September 18.<\/p>\n In a Wavves Patreon chat viewed by Pitchfork, Williams wrote that \u201con a professional level [Bemis] was awful,\u201d adding: \u201cI don\u2019t want to be associated with the guy, and so it\u2019s as simple as that. Whatever I lose doesn\u2019t matter at that point.\u201d A statement<\/a> shared to Wavves\u2019 official Instagram echoed this sentiment, reading: \u201cNot sure what to say but fuck Max. Fuck Say Anything. I\u2019m sorry y\u2019all. I spent 11 months making this record and Max spent 4 days so I dunno exactly what I\u2019m supposed to do. I\u2019m sorry guys.\u201d Pitchfork has reached out to Wavves\u2019 representatives for comment.<\/p>\n On Patreon, Williams also claimed that he composed the majority of Cherry Soda.<\/em> When a fan asked if the album could be re-recorded as a solo LP, Williams didn\u2019t rule it out as a possibility, explaining that it \u201cwouldn\u2019t be hard\u201d since Bemis allegedly \u201cbarely wrote anything.\u201d However, Williams pointed out that the \u201cissue is 10,000 records [were] already pressed.\u201d As of this writing, Cherry Soda<\/em> is still available for pre-order via Rough Trade.<\/p>\n Williams and Bemis first announced Cherry Soda<\/em> back in July, when they released the lead single \u201cDeathx1k.\u201d In a press release circulated at the time, Bemis said that the two artists \u201ckind of wrote to each other\u2019s situations. We\u2019re both very different people, but we get along really well\u2026I think we brought out some of the stuff that isn\u2019t most obvious in each other.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
