Celebrated singer-songwriter, label founder<\/a>, and local bar owner<\/a> Conor Oberst<\/a> is about to add a new entry to his resume: filmmaker. His directorial debut, a short called Invention 13<\/em>, will premiere on September 26 at Beyond Fest in Los Angeles. According to a press release, the movie is about a frustrated pianist attempting to learn Bach\u2019s \u201cnotoriously intricate Invention.\u201d<\/p>\n

Co-directed with fellow musician Shawn Foree, the project stars actors Emory Cohen and Olivia Howard alongside pro skater Nelly Morville. Oberst\u2019s erstwhile Better Oblivion Community Center<\/a> bandmate, Phoebe Bridgers, provides a voiceover, while Bright Eyes<\/a> member Nathaniel Walcott wrote the score. There\u2019s no trailer yet so we\u2019ll post it when it becomes available.<\/p>\n
