I heard it, and I went, &#8216;No, that&#8217;s not possible. We can&#8217;t lose her,'&#8221; Judd reflects in a new interview with Taste of Country.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I walked around my house going, &#8216;But I&#8217;ve got all the Dolly shirts and stuff. I&#8217;m gonna see her at [the CMAs]. I really am,&#8221; she continues. &#8220;She was plucked from this earth so quickly. I just can&#8217;t wrap my head around it. I&#8217;m just now starting to go, &#8216;She&#8217;s really not here.'&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s the end of an era,&#8221; the singer adds. &#8220;I can&#8217;t imagine life without her.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s a sentiment many country fans might have echoed in their own grieving processes. Dolly Parton&#8217;s music felt personal to so many: The country legend had an undeniable gift for connection, and those who loved her music are left feeling like her death is, in a very real way, a death in the family.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Wynonna Judd Remembers Her Deep Bond With Dolly Parton<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>But for Judd, that loss is more literal.<\/p>\n<p>Parton was a close friend to her and her mother, <a href=\"https:\/\/tasteofcountry.com\/tags\/naomi-judd\" target=\"_blank\">Naomi Judd<\/a>, throughout their career as <a href=\"https:\/\/tasteofcountry.com\/tags\/the-judds\" target=\"_blank\">The Judds<\/a>. Per <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-country\/flashback-see-the-judds-cover-dolly-partons-coat-of-many-colors-72511\/\" target=\"_blank\">Rolling Stone<\/a><\/em>, a then-11-year-old\u00a0Wynonna and her mother practiced their now-iconic blood harmonies by listening to records \u2014 among them, Parton&#8217;s\u00a0<em>Coat of Many Colors<\/em>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"single-post-image \">\n<figure class=\"img-tag v3 alignnone\">\n<div class=\"theframe \" data-loading=\"lazy\"><\/div><figcaption>Ron Wolfson\/Getty Images<\/figcaption><span class=\"visually-hidden\" aria-hidden=\"true\">Ron Wolfson\/Getty Images<\/span><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>She tells Taste of Country that that was among her earliest experiences\u00a0of Parton. They&#8217;d later collaborate on many occasions, including a 1987 show in Chicago that also featured an appearance from Wynonna&#8217;s actor sister, Ashley Judd.<\/p>\n<p>Through the years, they remained close, both professionally and personally.\u00a0After Naomi Judd died, Parton teamed up with <a href=\"https:\/\/tasteofcountry.com\/tags\/lainey-wilson\" target=\"_blank\">Lainey Wilson<\/a> to record a version of &#8220;Mama He&#8217;s Crazy&#8221; for the star-packed album\u00a0<em>A Tribute to the Judds<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Wynonna Judd Reveals What Dolly Parton Told Her After Mom Naomi Judd Died<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Parton was there for Judd after Naomi&#8217;s death: Not just in the spotlight, or an a tribute album, but in person, too.<\/p>\n<p>They shared a private moment in the dressing room backstage at Naomi&#8217;s public memorial sevice, Judd recounts.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Read More<\/em>: <a href=\"https:\/\/tasteofcountry.com\/reba-mcentire-dolly-parton-appalachian-memories\/\" target=\"_blank\">Watch Reba McEntire&#8217;s &#8216;Appalachian Memories&#8217; Dolly Parton Tribute<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;She came in and shut the door, and came over to me and hugged me. That kind of hug that lasts longer than the &#8216;pat, pat, pat.&#8217; And she said, &#8216;I love you very much,&#8221; Judd says. &#8220;I said, &#8216;I love you too.&#8217; She said, &#8216;I&#8217;m so sorry.&#8217; And we just shared a couple things back and forth. Her light is so bright. She&#8217;s just effervescent. She glides around the room, like, &#8216;Is this person real?!'&#8221; Judd describes. &#8220;She&#8217;s so good.
