Madonna<\/a> is bringing Danceteria back to the VMAs. This year, the pop star will open the awards show for the first time since 2003, performing as the most-nominated artist for her \u201980s nightlife-inspired album, Confessions II<\/em><\/a>. Her nods include Video of the Year, Artist of the Year, and Song of the Year. This is the third time Madonna has led the VMA nominations, having earned nine nods for \u201cRay of Light\u201d and \u201cFrozen\u201d in 1998, and nine for \u201cVogue\u201d in 1990.<\/p>\n The last time Madonna opened the show, she performed \u201cLike a Virgin\u201d and \u201cHollywood\u201d alongside\u2014and then made out with\u2014Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. In 1990, she sang \u201cVogue\u201d in a performance inspired by 18th<\/sup>-century France.
