Palmer added: \u201cMy wife says to me now, \u2018I might have to come out on tour with you more to make sure everything\u2019s okay.\u2019 You know, when you\u2019re 76 you never know when something bad might happen.\u201d<\/p>\n
But he reported that he was ready for the eventual end: \u201cI even know where I\u2019m going to be buried. It\u2019s not a graveyard. It\u2019s a kind of nature reserve.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the same interview he dispelled a myth about his pre-gig routine. \u201cContrary to some rumours, I don\u2019t go to sleep,\u201d he explained. \u201cI like to take the weight off my legs. If I can get my legs off the floor and lie on a sofa or whatever, that really helps me\u2026 I\u2019m then really that much stronger when I go out on stage.\u201d<\/p>\n
Palmer also said he was careful with his diet, which mainly features lentils, beans and fish every other day. \u201cI don\u2019t eat three to four hours before I play,\u201d he noted. \u201cI sleep as much as possible, and I try to eat as well as I possibly can\u2026 It\u2019s not boring because I\u2019m so used to it now.\u201d<\/p>\n
His aim, he added, was to stay on the road as long as he possibly could. \u201cI don\u2019t want to give up because I love what I do,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019ve been doing this now 60 years professionally, and I started playing drums when I was 11, so I\u2019ve been playing 65 years.\u201d<\/p>\n
