Asia<\/a> released a video for the track \u201cArcadia,\u201d taken from their upcoming album Indigo<\/em>, which arrives Nov. 6<\/p>\n

The British prog supergroup\u2019s 14th LP follows 2014\u2019s Gravitas<\/a><\/em> and features co-founder Geoff Downes<\/a> along with recent recruits Harry Whitley (bass, lead vocals), John Mitchell (guitar) and Virgil Donati (drums).<\/p>\n

Indigo<\/em> already has strong links with Asia\u2019s past, containing some of late frontman John Wetton<\/a>\u2019s final compositions \u2013 \u201cTattoo Indigo (Parts 2 & 3)\u201d featuring a guest appearance by Mike Portnoy<\/a>, and \u201cChesapeake Bay\u201d starring former member\u00a0Steve Howe<\/a> \u2013 but, as Downes explained, the new single represents another link.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe original idea for \u2018Arcadia\u2019 was that it was going to be the title of the third Asia album, which we later decided to change to Astra<\/em>,\u201d he said. \u201cHowever, the word and concept has always been around us, and there have been many suggestions over the years to write a song about it. So here we are in 2026, 40 years later, and we’ve finally managed to bring it into being.<\/p>\n

\u201cArcadia is a historical Greek region, depicted as an idyllic pastoral place free from the outside world. Our song symbolizes a retreat from everyday life \u2013 an escape if you like to a quieter place, something that we all need to do from time to time.\u201d<\/p>\n

How Asia\u2019s 14th Album Was Derailed<\/h3>\n

Downes and Wetton had begun writing the album in 2015, but Wetton\u2019s cancer diagnosis halted progress. He died in 2017<\/a>. \u201cIt was always in my mind that\u2026 it would be a shame not to finish off some of these songs and finally release them as part of an Asia album,\u201d Downes said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn 2023, when the tribute concert for John took place, I was so encouraged by the response to Asia\u2019s music that I viewed this as the perfect opportunity.\u201d<\/p>\n

Describing Indigo<\/em> as \u201ca joy to make,\u201d he added: \u201cI forged a close writing relationship with Harry, and I felt how great it was to be working with someone who had very similar musical influences and taste once again, just as I did with John.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel that this is one of our best albums to date. The songs are deep in musicality, with a powerful and original performance, dynamics, and strong lyrical undertones.\u201d<\/p>\n
