\n\tPearl Jam<\/a> has unveiled their new drummer. During Eddie Vedder<\/a>\u2019s set at Ohana Festival in Southern California on Friday night, billed as \u201cEddie Vedder and Friends,\u201d the band surprised the beachside crowd by taking the stage with longtime Paul McCartney collaborator Abe Laboriel Jr. behind the kit.<\/p>\n

\n\tPearl Jam performed \u201cCorduroy\u201d as their first song with Laboriel, followed by fan favorites \u201cHail Hail,\u201d \u201cScared of Fear,\u201d and \u201cWishlist.\u201d The reveal came as a surprise to fans, who expected the big reveal to happen during the band\u2019s headlining set on Day Three of the fest.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe slot for Pearl Jam\u2019s now-sixth drummer has been open since\u00a0Matt Cameron\u2019s amicable departure from the band<\/a>\u00a0in July 2025, and the group previously confirmed that it chosen a new member, but kept things under wraps. <\/p>\n

\n\tEarlier this week, Rolling Stone<\/em> listed Laboriel among its top picks<\/a> for possible replacements, noting his ferocious skills, friendship with Vedder, and he guest feature on the frontman\u2019s 2022 solo LP, Earthling<\/em>. <\/p>\n

\n\tNotably, Laboriel, who also does background vocals, has performed on some of the world\u2019s biggest stages \u2014 from the Super Bowl halftime shows, and even in front of Queen Elizabeth. <\/p>\n

\n\tIn May, fans began to speculate that something was up after Laboriel was missing from McCartney\u2019s performance during Saturday Night Live<\/em>\u2018s 51st finale and when \u00a0Red Hot Chili Peppers\u2019 Chad Smith filled in.<\/p>\n

\n\tWhether Laboriel has split from McCartney or will be pulling double duty with Pearl Jam has yet to be confirmed. For now, it looks like he\u2019ll be on the West Coast with his new crew all weekend.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n
