The BBC describes the lot as containing 63 live shows recorded and more than 100 hours of the Gallaghers &amp; friends rehearsing in the Nineties. Littleton Auctions in England valued the collection at between \u00a31.2 million and \u00a31.6 million ($1.59 million to $2.12 million). But the band filed a legal motion to stop the sale, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/cw98070pq999o\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">the BBC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tSound engineer Huw Richards, whom the band employed from the release of their 1994 debut until 2001, recorded the show. Richards\u2019 son, Owain, had brought the recordings to auction.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cIt is true that Oasis have sued me and my father to try to prevent the auction of the tapes made by my father many years ago,\u201d Owain told the BBC. \u201cWe have agreed to postpone the auction [of the tapes] to enable the legal dispute to be resolved either by litigation or otherwise in an orderly way.\u201d (Reps for Oasis did not immediately respond to <em>Rolling Stone\u2019s <\/em>request for comment.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cLittleton Auctions has always sought to conduct its sales professionally, transparently and responsibly,\u201d Benjamin Homer, the auction house\u2019s managing director, tells <em>Rolling Stone<\/em>. \u201cFollowing legal proceedings relating to one lot, the Oasis tapes have been withdrawn from the auction. \u2026 As the matter remains the subject of ongoing legal proceedings, it would not be appropriate for us to comment further.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tAlthough the tapes won\u2019t be part of the planned auction, Littleton is going forward with selling previously unpublished photos of the band, studio material, set lists, a tour parka, instruments the band owned, and other items.<\/p>\n<section class=\"brands-most-popular \/\/ recirculation-modules trending-in-article lrv-u-margin-tb-2 lrv-u-border-a-2 u-box-shadow-5-5 lrv-u-padding-lr-1 a-span1 u-padding-b-1@tablet u-overflow-hidden\">\n<h2 id=\"section-heading\" class=\"c-heading larva  lrv-u-text-align-center u-border-color-black a-font-theme-primary-xxs lrv-u-color-black lrv-u-text-transform-uppercase u-letter-spacing-0063 lrv-u-padding-t-050 u-padding-b-0375@tablet lrv-u-padding-b-050@mobile-max lrv-u-border-b-2\">\n<p>\t\tTrending Stories<\/p>\n<\/h2>\n<\/section>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tRegarding the tapes, now legally in limbo, Owain Richards previously told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/c6e30gxjwxv1o\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">the BBC<\/a> about how meticulously his father kept the recordings for the past 25 years. \u201cDad labelled everything, recorded everything and backed it all up to cassette, over and over,\u201d he said. \u201cI grew up listening to these recordings. Oasis were part of the family as much as they were part of the culture.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tSo what are Oasis hiding by stopping the tapes\u2019 sale? What could be so embarrassing that the Gallaghers don\u2019t want people to hear it? Probably recordings of them complimenting one another and wishing each other a happy birthday and offering brotherly advice. The rest of what went on between them in the Nineties is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/liam-gallagher-vs-noel-gallagher-oasis-brothers-beef-history-explained-206050\/\">already well documented<\/a> and their reconciliation is the subject of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/oasis-dont-look-back-in-anger-documentary-takeaways-1235622674\/\">a new documentary<\/a>.
