Luke Grimes<\/a> is looking back at his time on Yellowstone<\/em> and the relationships he built during the show’s run.<\/p>\n As Kayce Dutton<\/strong>, Grimes spent five seasons working alongside Kevin Costner<\/a>, who played his father, John Dutton<\/strong>. The actor, 71, left the series after Season 5 following reports of tension surrounding his schedule and the show’s production.<\/p>\n Grimes said it would be \u201ccool\u201d to see Costner reprise his role as John Dutton on CBS’ Yellowstone<\/em> spinoff, Marshals<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n \u201cI doubt that will happen at this point; I just don’t know,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n If John Dutton were to appear in a flashback, however, Grimes has another idea<\/a> for the character. He said he would rather see Kayce’s wife, Monica Dutton, involved in a flashback with Kayce.<\/p>\n I would want it to be with Monica [more] than John. During an appearance on The Bill Simmons Podcast<\/em><\/a>, Sheridan said Costner’s original contract called for only three seasons.<\/p>\n \u201cHe was only supposed to be in the first three seasons,\u201d Sheridan said. \u201cThat was in his contract.
