Andrew Savage<\/a> has a new band with a new song out today. The Parquet Courts<\/a> frontman has launched a new group, Iconic Fugues, with a two-pronged track that\u2019s surely relatable to anyone who has a rose and a thorn of the past year. Check out \u201c2025 Dream\/2025 Blues\u201d below.<\/p>\n According to Savage, \u201c2025 Dream\/2025 Blues\u201d is \u201cabout a guy who wakes up from a dream only to be confronted with a series of increasingly consequential, harsh realities.\u201d Despite that dire synopsis, he doesn\u2019t see the song as a total bummer. \u201cAs I write this all out it sounds bleak, but I don\u2019t find it to be a bleak song. I think it\u2019s just amazing the way a fun guitar solo can draw a bit of sun out from behind the clouds.\u201d<\/p>\n Iconic Fugues came together sometime after Savage released his most recent solo album, Several Songs About Fire<\/em><\/a>, in 2023. Although the group\u2019s final form \u201cis still being decided,\u201d as Savage told Shaad Magazine<\/a> this week, a recent performance by the Marseille-based band featured his Several Songs About Fire<\/em> collaborator Dylan Hadley and Santiago Aldunate of the psych-rock band Hantayo.<\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s a difference between a solo record and a band record that I can\u2019t quite put my finger on, but it\u2019s just one of those things that you know when you hear it,\u201d he added to Shaad. \u201cI\u2019ve been in France for four years, in Marseille for almost three, and I\u2019ve got people here\u2026. My life has changed, and so the music has changed, and I guess I needed a new name to sort of inaugurate that change, you know?\u201d Parquet Courts, he added, are \u201cnot active at the moment, but still a band.\u201d<\/p>\n
