\n\tSheryl Crow<\/a> can\u2019t help but be impressed by Olivia Rodrigo<\/a>. In fact, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member says the \u201cDrop Dead\u201d singer-songwriter is a source of inspiration for her own career, now more than three decades since Crow\u2019s debut, 1993\u2019s Tuesday Night Music Club<\/em>.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cThere are a lot of really authentic young artists out there, many of which are women I love and admire and inspire me to keep going,\u201d Crow tells Rolling Stone<\/em>\u2019s Nashville Now<\/em> podcast. \u201cAnd she\u2019s at the top of that list for me.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tCrow praises Rodrigo, a likely nominee<\/a> when Grammy nominations are announced on Nov. 16, for her songwriting (\u201cShe\u2019s very, very clever\u201d) and her musicianship, which she says can often be overlooked when an artist also exists \u201cin the world of beauty and curated fashion.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tBut she\u2019s particularly taken with the activism and giving back that Rodrigo has made part of her career. She cites Rodrigo\u2019s all-women festival last August, Daisy Chain Fields<\/a>, as an example. \u201cShe\u2019s doing the work, and when I spoke to her the other night, I said, \u2018You cannot underestimate the trail you leave behind you of goodness,\u201d Crow says. \u201cThe way you affect people, the way you motivate people to look around and go, \u2018I got turned on to this charity at Daisy Chain.\u2019 It\u2019s like the Lilith<\/a> [Fair] thing \u2014\u00a0let\u2019s all be a part of our community.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tCrow and Rodrigo\u2019s history goes back to 2023, when the pair performed together at Nashville\u2019s Bluebird Caf\u00e9 and later at Crow\u2019s Rock Hall induction. They also shared a stage in Nashville<\/a> during Rodrigo\u2019s tour date at Bridgestone Arena. Most recently, Rodrigo sang \u201cStrong Enough\u201d<\/a> at an industry dinner honoring Crow.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cShe\u2019s a really good person,\u201d Crow says. \u201cI related to her so much because I met her parents, who were very involved\u2026 They raised her with expectations that you are going to grow up and be a thoughtful, good person\u2026.
