\n\tA$AP Rocky, seen lately on flame-lit arena stages holding a megaphone as a mic, is speaking a little more quietly than usual. \u201cI was going dummy,\u201d A$AP Rocky says with a strained voice, crediting his vocal ailment to hyping up a crowd in Athens on his final Don\u2019t Be Dumb<\/em> tour stop in Europe a couple days earlier.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Harlem rapper chose 2026, after a few teases and false starts, to end an eight-year gap in his discography. He released the chart-topping Don\u2019t Be Dumb<\/em><\/a> <\/em>in January, and ever since, it felt like Pretty Flacko was everywhere all at once: awards shows, Chanel fashion shows, his own<\/em> 6,000-plus-attendee AWGE fashion show, magazine covers, and in the streets of Manhattan (security detail be damned) telling the world that he, himself, is a New York Knick<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tCalling from Paris, admittedly a bit homesick after all of the traveling, A$AP Rocky gives Rolling Stone<\/em> his progress report for the year, talking about his record-breaking fashion show, why he\u2019s dyed his hair red, and inviting Riot, his three-year-old son with Rihanna<\/a>, onstage in Copenhagen. He says he\u2019s gearing up for a mysterious \u201cnext chapter\u201d and one more Don\u2019t Be Dumb<\/em> tour leg across Australia and New Zealand in December. \u201cWe gonna go dumb again. That\u2019s the name of that tour,\u201d he says. \u201cI wish I could have hit South America and Africa, but that\u2019s gonna have to be next.\u201d\u00a0And he teases Disc 2<\/em>, an upcoming project he calls \u201can extension\u201d of Don\u2019t Be Dumb<\/em>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tYour arena tour has hit nearly 50 dates across several countries. How\u2019s it been?<\/strong>
It is a blessing. When I tell you the demographics, it just varies from 11-year-olds to people in their late sixties. I\u2019ve even met people in their early seventies. All in attendance. You know, people bringing little siblings, TikTok users bringing older siblings. I met and connected with a lot of communities, and to be just reconnected with my fanbase and new people, new faces, it was just a blessing, yo.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tYou told me you\u2019re homesick, but I just read that you announced more dates for December.\u00a0<\/strong>
You know, third time\u2019s a charm. We\u2019re gonna go dumb again. I got to. It\u2019s gonna be so great.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Nah, Disc 2<\/em> is coming out now. I\u2019m dropping something on Friday, and Disc 2<\/em> is just about to drop \u2014 that\u2019s just an extension of Don\u2019t Be Dumb<\/em>. The next chapter is, you know, I don\u2019t really want to get too far ahead of myself, but the inspiration behind it was Denzel and Spike Lee, you know, Malcolm X.<\/em> I\u2019m ready to go redhead on them, go stupid, you know.<\/p>\n

\n\tSo, a little \u201cDetroit red\u201d energy for whatever is next?\u00a0<\/strong>

\n\tI\u2019m actually from Memphis, so I have to ask if you\u2019ll have the hometown producer Hitkidd (who produced Don\u2019t Be Dumb<\/em>\u2019s <\/em>\u201cStop Snitchin\u2019\u201d) on Disc 2<\/em>?\u00a0<\/strong>
Of course, you know that, though. It\u2019s Hitkidd on Disc 2,<\/em> its Hitkidd on the new chapters. At the end of the day, don\u2019t get me started with that. Like, for real, Memphis is in my DNA. If anybody who ever implemented Memphis, Texas, kind of like down South, underground chopped and screwed, bucking kind of music \u2026 it\u2019s really me, man. I\u2019m really a student of this shit.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tI\u2019m such a fan. Like DJ Spanish Fly, that\u2019s unc right there. Tommy Wright is unc. Like these niggas is a part of me. I\u2019m not even fucking around, I\u2019m not even joking. When it comes to any region, it starts in Memphis, then it travels to\u00a0Texas, then it travels Midwest, then it comes to New York, then it goes West Coast.<\/p>\n

\n\tYou\u2019ve spent the year all over the U.S. and all over Europe. Do you have a city or country you\u2019d rank with the best energy?\u00a0<\/strong>
It was Paris because I did like a two-for-one kind of situation. Like I made history, and I pulled off some shit that I always dreamed about doing, you know. We fucking broke the Guinness Book of World Records for the most attendees in a fashion show.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tI was just so proud. My moms was there, my kids was there, like my family was there. Everybody was there. It was people there that I didn\u2019t even know was gonna be there, \u2019cause if I knew that they was gonna be there, I probably would have been a little shy. My mother was right there, you know what I\u2019m saying? My kids are there. [The audience] was throwing bras and shit.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tYou\u2019ll probably be a lot of those attendees\u2019 first Paris fashion show or only fashion show they\u2019ve ever attended.<\/strong>
Oh, man, I\u2019m at a loss for words. Honestly, me like popping somebody\u2019s cherry for fashion shows? That\u2019s an honor.<\/p>\n

\n\tTo be real with you, I was emotional and I cried on my own and shit like that. I was just thanking God and shit. Like I\u2019m gonna keep it real, you know.<\/p>\n

\n\tAnother big tour moment was having your son hit the stage with you in Copenhagen. How was it to have Riot seeing you at work and soak in that lit energy?<\/strong>
He\u2019s a cutie, man. That\u2019s my boy, there. That\u2019s little Spider-Man. He\u2019s very ready for all of these things. He\u2019s the extrovert out of all of his siblings. And I think he has the strongest personality. So, for him, he\u2019s just very curious. He\u2019s asking me if I sing. He\u2019s asking A$AP Twelvyy if he do music, too.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tHe\u2019s not really shy. So it was really cool to have him up there, but the funniest thing that\u2019s just going through my mind is like, yeah, you know, it\u2019s my time to do my arenas you know, eight-year hiatus. I\u2019m back. This is their first time seeing their dad on stages. But I\u2019m like, wait till they get a load of mom, wait till they even realize who their mother is. It\u2019s just gonna be fucking jokes.<\/p>\n

\n\tThat\u2019s going to be hilarious. Listen, we\u2019re leaning into Grammy season. Tell me how you\u2019re feeling about Don\u2019t Be Dumb<\/em> being a contender?\u00a0<\/strong>
Man, I gotta take something home, man. I put in blood, sweat, and tears. This eight-year hiatus and coming back strong. I feel blessed and confident that we\u2019re gonna do something great this year. I\u2019m really excited, yo.<\/p>\n

\n\tI\u2019m able to do these arenas. I\u2019m able to come back and make it significant, you know, shake the room and all this other stuff, and still be influential. It\u2019s like I never left, and I love it.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a song that we heard before, but I never officially put it out. It\u2019s called \u201cShroom Clouds.\u201d It\u2019s a fan favorite. I\u2019ve been working on the video for years, and it\u2019s like, perfected<\/em>. You know me, man. Visually, I do not half-step.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tYou know, I just needed to get a break in between tours to drop this too, so that they could get ready for the next chapter.<\/p>\n

\n\tAnother recent drop you had was the feature on Quavo\u2019s \u201cBaby Breath,\u201d with Tyler, the Creator and Pharrell. Quavo told VIBE<\/em> magazine you all were rerecording verses to outdo one another.<\/strong>\u00a0
Well, I don\u2019t know if he was trying to out rap us, but me and Tyler went dummy. Tyler went into his alter ego, Young Nigga. People don\u2019t really remember him. I just went dummy. Pink-hair roller, Flacko Grim.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tWe was just having fun on that, and then [Pharrell] is the OG. We couldn\u2019t miss that opportunity. I wish P would have gave me that song, you know what I\u2019m saying? \u2019Cause I would\u2019ve did the video and all that shit. But shout out Quavo, man! That was a dope joint to be a part of.
