Singer sentenced to eight months in prison, suspended for 12 months, and ordered to pay a portion of the prosecution’s legal fees<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
\n\tChris Brown<\/a> has received a suspended jail sentence for a 2023 attack in a London nightclub. The R&B singer was sentenced to eight months in prison, suspended for 12 months, and will pay a \u00a31,500 ($2,000 USD) fine toward the prosecution. His prison sentence was waived as a result, per Billboard<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n \n\tOn Feb. 19, 2023, Brown, along with co-defendant Omololu \u201cHoody Baby\u201d Akinlolu<\/a>, attacked music producer Abe Diaw at a London nightclub. Brown allegedly used a tequila bottle as a weapon and repeatedly punched at and stomped on Diaw. <\/p>\n \n\tBrown was originally charged with assault, suspicion of grievous bodily harm, and possession of an offensive weapon (a tequila bottle). He pleaded not guilty to all three charges in June<\/a> and July 2025<\/a> which were then dismissed. This July, Brown pleaded guilty to \u201caffray,\u201d<\/a> or, fighting with an individual in a public space which incites terror.<\/p>\n \n\tDiaw originally sued Brown in October 2023 for $16 million for emotional and physical harm; later, Brown was arrested in May 2025<\/a> after landing in Manchester, England, for a concert. Diaw dropped the lawsuit<\/a> in June 2025.<\/p>\n
