{"id":76498,"date":"2026-11-05T17:01:36","date_gmt":"2026-11-05T17:01:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/musicianvoice.com\/index.php\/2026\/11\/05\/pink-floyd-marks-50th-anniversary-of-animals-with-new-reissue\/"},"modified":"2026-11-05T17:01:36","modified_gmt":"2026-11-05T17:01:36","slug":"pink-floyd-marks-50th-anniversary-of-animals-with-new-reissue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/musicianvoice.com\/index.php\/2026\/11\/05\/pink-floyd-marks-50th-anniversary-of-animals-with-new-reissue\/","title":{"rendered":"Pink Floyd Marks 50th Anniversary of &#8216;Animals&#8217; With New Reissue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/pink-floyd\/\" id=\"auto-tag_pink-floyd\" data-tag=\"pink-floyd\">Pink Floyd<\/a> will mark the 50th anniversary of their classic 1977 album <em>Animals<\/em> with a new reissue featuring unreleased songs and a live show from the era.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tArriving just four years after the <em>Animals 2018<\/em> reissue \u2014 which was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/pink-floyd-animals-reissue-1376578\/\">delayed from the 40th anniversary to 2022<\/a> as the band and former member Roger Waters <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/roger-waters-announces-animals-deluxe-edition-plans-memoir-1176303\/\">fought over liner notes<\/a> \u2014 <em>Animals 50<\/em> features both the original and 2018 remix of the album, as well as unreleased early studio versions of \u201cDogs\u201d and \u201cSheep,\u201d an unearthed \u201cStudio Jam,\u201d and the unheard Roger Waters-penned composition \u201cYoung Nicholas Jon.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tAhead of <em>Animals 50<\/em>\u2019s release on January 22, the band has shared the unreleased original radio edit of \u201cSheep,\u201d which cuts down the track\u2019s 10-minute runtime to an FM-palatable four minutes:<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\">\n<p>\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Pink Floyd - Sheep (Original Radio Edit)\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/blcT5nYxa7s?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThe deluxe version of the reissue also arrives with the first official release of the band\u2019s oft-bootlegged concert at the Oakland Coliseum in 1977, a beloved gig among Floyd fans as it features full-album performances of both <em>Animals<\/em> and its predecessor <em>Wish You Were Here<\/em>, a pair of <em>Dark Side<\/em> tracks, and the first and only \u201cCareful With That Axe, Eugene\u201d that Pink Floyd played all tour; it would also be the last time the band ever played that early instrumental.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cThe mood in music was changing in \u201977,\u201d David Gilmour said of <em>Animals<\/em> in a statement. \u201cPunk music was hitting everything and I suspect that had a little bit of an influence on the way we were working on the <em>Animals<\/em> album. It\u2019s quite an aggressive, stripped-back album. It was moving away from the sort of soundscapes that we had on <em>Wish You Were Here<\/em>. This album is more in your face and more rough and ready. And definitely the lyrics are a lot more aggressive from Roger. We had a lot of fun making it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThe deluxe reissue box set, <a
