Jolt Cola Is Returning to Stores With Twice the Caffeine

Back in the day, there was a soda in stores that was almost always hidden on the bottom shelf, and your parents certainly never let you have one.

That soda is the one and only Jolt Cola, a basic brown soda that tastes like all the others, except it has a massive amount of caffeine. It was the first energy drink, if you will.

According to Eatthis.com, the new Jolt Cola rebrand is in direct contrast to how Jolt was marketed in the ’80s, as an alternative to Pepsi and Coke.

Jolt was available before the energy drink craze hit, and it was sometimes confused as just another soda, but with a fun name. Now, with the rebrand, Jolt will be targeted more toward energy drink consumers, and less toward soda consumers.

The brand behind the relaunch of Jolt Cola is called Redcon1.

Ryan Monahan, chief marketing officer at Redcon1, assures his people and the public that this rebrand is the way to go, because soda sales have been dropping as energy drink sales have been increasing.

Monahan said, “Consumers pick and choose who wins with their dollars. The reality is, it’s the soda companies that we’re really seeing a decline in.”

Original Jolt Cola had 73mg of caffeine in a bottle, which was a lot back in the ’80s. Today’s Jolt Cola will feature 200mg of caffeine. This time, your parents can’t stop you from grabbing and enjoying one.

The new labeling will clarify that this product is intended for use by those over 21, but no ID will be required to purchase the product, as it contains no alcohol or THC.

Look for Jolt Cola to hit the shelves of all major retailers, both online and brick-and-mortar, in early 2025.
