Jelly Roll Reveals When And Where He First Shot a Gun

Jelly Roll just released his new album, Beautifully Broken, and his fans are loving it. Within a couple days of its release, the album was an all-genre No. 1 on iTunes and a No. 1 on Apple Music’s country chart.

But just as incredible as Jelly’s musical talent is his storytelling power.

Taste of Country Nights recently sat down with the 2024 CMA Entertainer of the Year nominee, and out came an exclusive story about the first time he ever shot a gun.

The “Save Me” singer said,

“I had a rich uncle, whenever I was a kid. I would go to his farm, and it’s the first place I shot a gun, and we would go quail hunting.”

For anyone who still doubts Jelly’s country cred, here is a story that just confirms what most already know: Jelly is country to the core.

“I spent a lot of time out on my uncle Buford’s farm,” the “I Am Not Okay” star said. “And I just remember thinking, ‘man, he’s doing it right.'”

Jelly went on to say that the time he spent quail hunting at his uncle’s farm shaped what he wanted success to look like when he got older. “I want the opportunity to do this one day, this would be really cool,” he recalls saying to himself.

Jelly has made good on that promise to his younger self. He and his wife, Bunnie Xo, have some land that they are living on now, that they purchased in 2023, and Jelly also explained to us that he and his wife recently purchased their 500 acre forever farm in Tennessee.

They hope to build two studios, a “three to four-acre” pond, and more.

Before they purchased their farm, Jelly and Bunnie posted a tour of the acreage.

One thing is for sure, Jelly Roll will be paying homage to his uncle Buford sooner than later, by doing some quail hunting on his own land.
