Ava Max released her resolute new single “Lost Your Faith” on Thursday, following last year’s holiday song “1 Wish.”
The new track opens with Max singing, “It’s getting darker on the road we’re on, I know, I know/It’s getting harder to believe in us, I know, I know,” before declaring in the chorus: “You used to hold me in a holy place, but now you’ve lost your faith.”
In statement, Max called her latest offering “a message, one that I feel I’ve been called to deliver and perform.” She continued, “A message of love, that no matter how late we feel it may be, there is still time. A message of hope, that no matter where you are in life, there is still a way to grow and evolve. To be reborn.”
The pop artist added, “The pain pushes you inward, forcing you to confront yourself in a way you never have before. You piece yourself back together-not into who you were, but into someone stronger, someone more certain of their own light.”
The artist rolled out a handful of songs in 2024, including “Whatever,” which sampled Shakira’s “Whenever, Wherever,” solo single “My Oh My,” and September’s “Spot a Fake.” She also teamed up with David Guetta to reimagine Alphaville’s “Forever Young.”
In January, Max addressed leaks of her demos online by asking fans to “respect my art” and stop leaking her work. “I have a lot of demos I’ve written that are not finalized records and I’d appreciate it if you stop leaking these records like this one,” she wrote at the time, including a snippet of an unreleased song titled “Phenomenon.” “I respect my art so I can keep working on making the songs I wanna put out that make sense for my project,” she said.
Most of her second album, Diamonds & Dancefloors, leaked online in October 2022. When speaking to Rolling Stone about it during a January 2023 interview, she said, “That leak was crazy. I never know how those things happen, but every time they do, it upsets me because I want to be the first one to put them out.”
According to a press release, last year also saw Max take on her biggest world tour to date, with a sold out run with stops in the UK, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Norway, Switzerland, Italy, Portugal, Germany, Spain, and Finland.
