Drake Talks ‘Next Chapter’ in Cryptic Instagram Post

Drake is hinting at a “next chapter,” but what that may entail is unclear from his cryptic Instagram post.

On Monday, the rapper wrote, “U know I grew up non confrontational and always treated this game as a sport where my pen won gold, but my these days the podium has been hard for all of us to ignore.”

While this might be referring to the well-publicized beef between him and Kendrick Lamar, which launched many diss tracks and a lawsuit (and earned Lamar five Grammys for his fiery Drake diss “Not Like Us,” including Record of the Year and Song of the Year), the rest of Drake’s post doesn’t seem Lamar related. Instead, Drake appears to be addressing someone specifically that has been sending him texts — and given that many believe Drake lost that last bout with Lamar, it’s unlikely they are closely communicating.

“I understand that this next chapter may leave you feeling uneasy, but I hope you see my honesty as clarity not charity that answers some questions especially about the unanswered texts you’ve been sending me,” he wrote.

The cryptic message served as a caption to a carousel of photos. The snapshots include him at various locales and there’s also a photo of a sweatshirt featuring his label’s OVO Sound owl logos that sports the slogan “Free the Man Dem.” There is also a photo of a Zofran pill, which is a medication that is used to prevent nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy, radiation or surgery, per the Cleveland Clinic.

Drake has already successfully launched his post-Lamar-feud chapter with a Number One album: $ome $exy $ongs 4 U, the rapper’s collaborative album with fellow Canadian PartyNextDoor, which debuted atop the Billboard 200 chart in late February. It’s Drake’s 14th Number One album.

It remains to be seen what “next chapter” is coming now, but it could potentially be Drake’s next solo album. He hinted that a solo effort would be on the way while on tour in Australia in early February. “And you know, eventually when the time is right, Drizzy Drake alone by himself is gonna have to have a one-on-one talk to y’all,” he said onstage. “When the time is right, I’ll be back with another album, a one-on-one conversation with y’all that you need to hear.”
