Jason Isbell announced a slate of solo shows heading into 2025. The “Cover Me Up” singer will begin his solo run in Chicago on Feb. 15, followed by performances in cities including New York and Los Angeles. The tour wraps in Atlanta on March 29. The musician will also perform four nights in Nashville from March 20 through March 28. Tickets go on sale Friday.
Earlier this month, Isbell released Live From The Ryman Vol. 2, a collection of recordings from his performances at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium.
In September 2023, he released the reissue of his 2013 album, Southeastern. When reshooting the cover art for Southeastern, Isbell told Rolling Stone in 2023 that he didn’t look as confident in the original image. Newly sober and helping his young daughter Mercy fend off the monsters in her closet, Isbell realized he, too, had his own fears about the direction of his musical career.
“Looking back, I’m extremely proud of that record, but I’m more proud of getting up out of bed and looking in the closet, because that’s sort of what I was doing at that point in time: I was working up the courage to look into those closed rooms and see what was in there for real,” Isbell said.
Weathervanes, Isbell and the 400 Unit’s ninth studio album, featured a medley of sob rock singles that wrestle with anger, desperation, and fear. Following the 2023 album’s release, Isbell earned a Grammy for Best Americana Album, and “Cast Iron Skillet” off the album won an award for Best American Roots Song. Isbell also penned the lyrics for “Maybe It’s Time,” the pull at your heartstrings track sung by Bradley Cooper in A Star Is Born.
