Dua Lipa Sings AC/DC Classic on ‘Radical Optimism’ Tour: Watch


Following eight shows in Australia, the ‘Houdini’ singer is headed to to New Zealand, Spain, and France

Dua Lipa launched the second half of her Radical Optimism tour in Melbourne, Australia, with a performance of “Highway to Hell,” an homage to the AC/DC hit. Lipa’s delivered a raw, velvety rendition of the Australian band’s classic song, as fans in the Rod Laver Arena Monday chimed in for the roaring chorus, “I’m on a highway to hell.”

Lipa performed her first of eight shows in Australia as part of her Radical Optimism tour. Next, she heads to New Zealand, Spain, and France and lands in the U.S. with a two-night stint in Chicago beginning Sept. 5. She ends her tour in Seattle on Oct. 16.

Radical Optimism, released in May 2024, marked the dance pop artist’s first full-length record since 2022’s Future Nostalgia and her departure from her disco era. While working on Radical Optimism, Lipa listened to childhood favorites BlurOasis, and other Brit-pop bands and tapped Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker to write and produce singles including “Houdini,” “Training Season,” and “Illusion.”

Lipa released a 20-track live album, Dua Lipa Live From the Royal Albert Hall, in December which commemorates the pop star’s one-night-only live performance at the historic venue. Last week, Lipa starred opposite of Blackpink’s Jennie in the K-Pop singer’s “Handlebars” music video, a technicolor dreamscape about falling head over heels in love.
