The singer’s first album under Capitol Records will be released on May 9th
Kali Uchis is officially kicking off her fifth album era with the dreamy lead single “Sunshine & Rain.” Uchis’ latest LP Sincerely will drop on May 9th and it will be her first release under new label home Capitol Records.
The smooth track is a soulful, honest turn from the singer. She makes a promise to be faithful and stand by someone. She sings on the chorus: “Sunshine and rain/Seasons change/But you’ll need someday/I’m next to you forever babe/I’ll be that somebody/’Cause you’re that somebody to me.”
Uchis announced Sincerely in March with a witchy video she dropped on social media as well as letter she e-mailed to her fans. “I know I’ve been distant, but we’ll each other again sooner than you think,” she promised. In the letter she explained that she would now be signed to Capitol Records following their merger with Interscope. She is still working with the same team behind her last two albums, Red Moon in Venus and Orquídeas. “Thank you all for the well-intentioned wishes on this journey, and thank you to my team,” she said in the letter. “I have boundless gratitude for my silent ascent throughout the years and am very much looking forward to what’s next.”
Uchis released her second Spanish-language album Orquídeas in January of last year. The song spun off the hit “Igual Que Un Ángel” with Peso Pluma. A few months later, she and her partner Don Toliver had their first child together. She was nominated for Best Latin Pop Album at the Grammys this year.
