BTS’ Jin to Release Solo LP ‘Echo’ in May

The album follows the South Korean singer’s debut album, Happy, which dropped last fall

BTS member Jin will unveil his second solo effort, Echo, on May 16. The album follows his solo debut, Happy, which arrived in November.

A press release notes that Echo “offers Jin’s perspective on universal life experiences, capturing everyday emotions with warmth and sincerity. Built on dynamic band sounds, the album showcases his versatile vocals across a spectrum of moods and styles. It reflects a deeper layer of vocal maturity and personal storytelling that underscores Jin’s evolving artistry.” More details will be announced in the coming weeks.

Jin, who completed his mandatory military service in South Korea last summer, made his official solo debut in 2022 on “The Astronaut,” which was co-written by Coldplay. He followed it with Happy, a six-track album that “explores Jin’s journey to discover true happiness.” The LP featured production and songwriting from Take That’s Gary Barlow, who worked on track “Running Wild,” and Taka and Toru of celebrated Japanese rock band, One OK Rock, worked on “Falling.”

Most recently, Jin starred in Netflix variety show Kian’s Bizarre B&B, which premiered on April 8. The unscripted series follows Jin, Ji Ye-eun, and Kian84 as they open their own bed and breakfast in a building complete with a rock climbing wall and two slides leading into the ocean.

The series was a long time coming for Jin, who first expressed interest in starring in a variety show on his own nearly three years ago. “I thought about going on a variety show to make myself happy, not for the group or because of my popularity or for work, because filming those shows might put me in a happy mood,” he told Weverse Magazine in 2022. “There are some things about variety shows that are tough, of course, but it’s also a chance to laugh your head off on set all day.”
