Drake Confirms He’s Working on a New Album

Drake is officially working on new music. In a Kick livestream with Adin Ross, the rapper confirmed that his next project is currently in the works.

“Thank you to everybody that’s streaming the album,” Drake said of his recent, chart-topping effort, $exy $ongs 4 U. He added, “Every time, every journey. Working on a new album, it’s a slap.”

Ross, who seemed surprised by the news, asked if it was a solo album. Drake simply replied, “Yeah.” He added, “Shout out to everybody that’s been showing us love, though, for real. On every song. Shout out to everybody that’s coming to Wireless [Festival]. We love you so much.”

Drake’s most recent solo album, For All the Dogs, dropped in 2023. $exy $ongs 4 U, a collaboration with Partynextdoor, arrived in February. The rapper spent most of last year engaged in a feud with Kendrick Lamar and in an ongoing legal battle with his record label, Universal Music Group.

In March, the rapper teased his “next chapter” in a cryptic Instagram post. “U know I grew up non confrontational and always treated this game as a sport where my pen won gold, but my these days the podium has been hard for all of us to ignore,” he wrote. “I understand that this next chapter may leave you feeling uneasy, but I hope you see my honesty as clarity not charity that answers some questions especially about the unanswered texts you’ve been sending me.”

He previously hinted that a solo effort would be on the way while on tour in Australia in early February. “And you know, eventually when the time is right, Drizzy Drake alone by himself is gonna have to have a one-on-one talk to y’all,” he said onstage. “When the time is right, I’ll be back with another album, a one-on-one conversation with y’all that you need to hear.”
