Daddy Yankee Files to End Companies With Ex-Wife Mireddys Castellanos

The reggaeton star said personal differences and a breakdown of communication had made operating any joint ventures “impossible”

Daddy Yankee has filed a petition to dissolve several companies that he co-owns with his ex-wife, Mireddys González Castellanos, following their contentious divorce earlier this year.

A statement from the reps of the reggaeton star — real name Ramón Ayala Rodríguez — cited “deep personal differences” as the reason for dissolving the companies, as well as “a complete lack of communication and information, which makes it impossible to continue any joint commercial operations.”

The new petition, filed in the San Juan Court of First Instance, seeks to dissolve several business entities that Castellanos allegedly retains operational control over (while others have already been dissolved). Rodríguez’s lawyers have asked the court to close these “longstanding business affairs in a structured and legal manner, as there is no longer a foundation of trust or communication to support them,” per the statement.

A lawyer for Castellanos did not immediately return Rolling Stone’s request for comment.

Rodríguez and Castellanos were married for 30 years, during which time they also worked closely as business partners. But their personal and professional relationship fell apart late last year, with Rodríguez ousting Castellano from her management role at the end of December after discovering several alleged irregularities.

The couple finalized their divorce in February, and the following month Rodríguez sued Castellanos and her sister, Ayeicha González Castellanos, for financial mismanagement and defamation. He accused them of improperly withdrawing $100 million from his companies’ bank accounts, and hiding or destroying documents related to several business ventures (including uncashed checks from royalty payments that are now worthless because of expiration dates). The suit described the sisters’ handling of his career as “disorganized, unprofessional and irresponsible,” causing him significant personal and financial harm.
