Hear PinkPantheress’ New Song ‘Stateside’ Off ‘Fancy That’ Mixtape

Artist’s Fancy That EP due out next month

Fresh off “Tonight,” the first single from her upcoming mixtape, Fancy That, out May 9, PinkPantheress keeps her infectious bubblegum energy going on a new track, “Stateside.” With a playful nod to Estelle’s “American Boy,” the British singer teases, “maybe you can be my American hot, hot, hot boy,” but with lots of heavy breathing.

Set against a pulsing bass line, the artist reflects on the whirlwind of an international romance that feels almost too good to be true: “You’re nice, so I’ll stay/Never met a British girl, you say?/No one treats me this way/Are all boys out here the same?” As always, she takes the lead on production (which she does across Fancy That), this time with support from the Dare, Aksel Arvid, and Count Baldor.

“[I’m] so excited to share with you my favorite song off of the project, ‘Stateside,’” PinkPantheress said in a statement. “It explores my growth as an artist and I hope everyone enjoys it as much as me.”

To preview the track, she teamed up with music file-sharing platform [untitled] and Analog Productions for a vibrant teaser, which she teased on Instagram. In the video, she and her artist friends dance in a technicolor dollhouse, a throwback to early Apple iPod commercials. In her post, she wrote, “We made a little advert as an accurate representation of how me and my friends listen to this song!”

Since her breakout in 2020, the 24-year-old has carved out a distinct space in the pop landscape, her signature sound is now a reference point for a new generation of artists. She’s gotten co-signs from Charli XCX and a BBC Producer of the Year award.
