Rihanna Claps Back at People Who Disliked Her Election-Fraud Joke

The Barbados-born pop star posted a funny Instagram Reel about wanting to use her son’s US passport to vote

It’s been a long time since the online clapback queen Rihanna has used social media to respond to haters, but no better day for her to do so than Election Day.

On Monday, the Barbados-born singer and businesswoman posted a video of herself in a car on Instagram Reels. The overlay text read, “POV: me trying to sneak into the polls with my son’s passport #votecauseicant.” In the caption of the video, she added, “When protecting pussies and firing pussies can happen all in one vote #votecauseicant #TanSuitSeason.” No one believes Rihanna would or could actually commit voter fraud, but that didn’t stop plenty of commenters, especially those who support Trump, from being up in arms over the suggestion that a foreign billionaire would ever try.

“Shut up Karen,” she wrote in response to one IG user telling her that “illegal voting is a crime.” “When yall stop burning ballot boxes come check me,” she told another. One lengthy comment attempted to over-explain how immigration works, to which Rihanna replied: “Where were you in Jan 6 sis? Stick to your discounted crotch. We out here fighting for its rights!”

When someone suggested that abortions are not nearly as important an issue as it’s made out to be, Rihanna responded with a particularly heated and pointed comment. “You’re fucked! And so is the America you dream of. Hope you don’t have to find out the hard way,” she said. She also made it clear that she’s more than okay with not being an American citizen yet. “I LOVE my Bajan passport! I came here to work and pay taxes! You’re welcome.”

Rihanna is the latest pop star to show her support for Vice President Kamal Harris in the 2024 election. Recently, artists like Beyoncé, Bruce Springsteen, Eminem, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and Christina Aguilera have been appearing at Harris’ rallies across the country to encourage those in swing states to vote blue.
