Duran Duran Simon Le Bon Awarded MBE From Prince William at Windsor

King Charles named the musician a Member of the Order of the British Empire in June as a recognition of his contributions to music and charity

Simon Le Bon has been formally appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE). During a ceremony at Windsor Castle on Tuesday, the Duran Duran frontman accepted the honor from Prince William.

Le Bon first received news that he would be named an MBE by King Charles in June. The award was presented in recognition of the musician’s services to music and charity. At that time, he shared that the honor was “incredible and totally unexpected.”

“It is fitting that the honour has been awarded not just for my role in music, but also for the work I’ve been fortunate to be involved with outside the band for some of the causes I believe in,” Le Bon wrote on Instagram in June. “To name but two of them, I hope this moment helps to raise awareness for the Blue Marine Foundation and the importance of their conservation work, and for Centrepoint.”

In a second post, he emphasized how taken aback he was by the honor. “I have to begin by saying that right now, I am experiencing the most severe case of IMPOSTER-SYNDROME. I think it’ll help if I feel that I can share the honour with you all,” he wrote. “It’s true to say that without you Duran Duran supporters, there would be no service to music; there’d be no service to charity; there’d be no MBE. So please, I want you to to feel the honour.”

On the morning of the ceremony, the official Duran Duran account shared an Instagram Story showing Le Bon being presented the award by Prince William. “On behalf of the band, and their management, we want to congratulate Simon on receiving his MBE this morning at Windsor Castle,” the post read.
