Drake Cancels Australia & New Zealand Tour

Drake has announced that he will not be returning to Australia and New Zealand and has cancelled his previous postponed tour in the two countries.

Drake played shows in Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane earlier this year and was set to perform additional concerts in Auckland and return gigs in Brisbane and Sydney before abruptly cutting the tour short and leaving for Canada, citing scheduling issues.

Live Nation have now confirmed that Drake has cancelled the shows.

In a statement, the promoter said: “Live Nation Australia regrets to inform you that the previously postponed Drake shows in Australia and New Zealand have now been officially cancelled. Despite extensive efforts to find a solution, rescheduling within the necessary timeframe was not possible. Drake remains committed to returning and performing these shows when his schedule permits.

“All purchases for the cancelled shows will receive a refund. Please check your email for information regarding the refund process.”

Drake himself has yet to comment on the cancellation as he currently embarks on his first European tour in six years, which has also seen postponements happen.

He was forced to cancel one of his sold out shows in Manchester, England that was scheduled to take place on Monday (July 28), making the announcement just a day beforehand.

Drake cited an issue with travel as the reason behind the show being moved which was a surprise to fans given he had already performed twice in the city beforehand.

The show is now scheduled to take place on August 5 meaning fans won’t have to wait long to see the Canadian superstar.

In a statement, the venue said: “Due to unforeseen ferry schedule and travel logistics, tomorrow’s performance in Manchester on July 28th has been rescheduled.”

They added: “The good news is that Drake will now perform in Manchester on Tuesday, August 5th, and it’s set to be an unforgettable night.”

All tickets bought for the original show will remain valid for the new date.

Drake’s UK tour has so far been eventful with the “Which One” rapper taking time out of his time in Birmingham to honor rock legend, Ozzy Osborne, who was from the city.
