“When you have a gay fever dream idea and it pops off even harder than you could have ever imagined and it encourages you to keep executing your gay fever dream ideas,” host Matt Rogers shared
Ben Platt is in his Addison Rae era. Over the weekend, the actor officially released his rendition of the pop singer’s sultry single “Diet Pepsi” on streaming services. Platt first performed the record on stage at the 2025 Las Culturistas Culture Awards, a celebration of pop culture chaos hosted by Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers.
“Ask and ye shall receive,” Platt wrote on Instagram. “Diet Pepsi (Live from 2025 Las Culturistas Culture Awards) streaming now.” His cover elevates the song with an orchestral arrangement that makes the plea “say you love, say love, say you love me” strangely hyper-emotional. “Now I can cry on the go!” actress Rachel Zegler commented. His brother, Henry Platt, also chimed in, writing: “Plattison Rae.”
“I had so much fun producing and arranging @bensplatt’s cover of “Diet Pepsi” with pal @Leland for the @lasculturistas Culture Awards, hosted by the brilliantly comedic @fayedunaway and @mattrogerstho! I loved playing my pianoooo on thissss. 😀🌟❤️ We all had fun,” Gabe Lopez shared.
Platt’s take on “Diet Pepsi” went viral in the days following the awards show, which aired last week. The official Bravo account shared the performance on TikTok, where it racked up more than 465,000 likes and 3.3 million views.
“When you have a gay fever dream idea and it pops off even harder than you could have ever imaged and it encourages you to keep executing your gay fever dream ideas,” Rogers wrote on TikTok with the cover playing over his message. “Also ily all and ur welcum.”
In another post, Rogers and Yang try their hand at another Rae rendition. “Can this Addison cover go viral too or nah,” Rogers asked, sharing their a cappella cover of “Headphones On,” another single from her self-titled debut album. One popular comment on the post reads: “Give this to Ben Platt as well.”
