Kid Cudi Admits He Didn’t Want To Testify Against Diddy

Kid Cudi has admitted that he was reluctant to testify against Diddy in his sex trafficking trial earlier this year.

Speaking to CBS News, Cudi said he did it for the sake of Cassie.

He explained: “It was really hard. I didn’t want to do it. I got subpoenaed and I knew I was helping Cassie and I just wanted to be there for her and help her out. It was a tough situation.”

Cudi also addressed the backlash to his testimony: “The backlash was swift. I had a lot of people that supported me, but there were a few that were — you know — had some opinions about it. It was interesting because I’m not no street dude. I don’t live by no code, you know? I guess it’s because I’m a rapper, people just threw that on me. But, like, my music has never been about that and I have never tried to pretend I was about that. I’m from the suburbs, baby, you know what I’m sayin’? Straight up.”

He added: “But I ain’t let it faze me, so I know I was doing the right thing. Fuck ’em, you know. Let those motherfuckers think whatever they want.”

Cudi also described what it was like being on the stand: “It was weird, man, because that was the first time I had seen him in a while. We made eye contact a couple times. It was fucking weird, but I’m glad I got through it. Got it behind me. I know I did the right thing, so that’s all that matters.”

The “Pursuit of Happiness” rapper previously explained that being involved in Diddy’s case was a stressful time for him.

In a video he put out on social media shortly after he finished giving evidence, Cudi spoke briefly about the emotions of the situation.

He said: “Hey guys, so I, I just wanna say, man, I’ve been seeing all the love and support, and I just wanna say thank you so much, man. People have been hitting me up the past week just checking in and, and even today, and I just, it really means a lot to me, man.”

Cudi continued: “You guys are the best. I love y’all. This is a stressful situation. I’m glad it’s behind me and yeah, I love y’all, man.”
