Farmer Wants a Wife fans who were stunned by John Sansone’s finale pick are in for another surprise: John and Claire have already called it quits.
On Saturday (Aug. 16), Sansone confirmed the split in a heartfelt Instagram post, explaining that the breakup “was a mutual decision based on private challenges.”
“While I’ll always appreciate and respect the time we shared together, I feel it’s best to move forward separately,” John wrote.
He added, “While our relationship was public, I wish for this chapter to remain as private as possible. Thank you for your kindness and support.”

The announcement comes less than three months after the Season 3 finale aired on May 22 — when John shocked fans by choosing Claire over fellow finalist (and fan-favorite) Lily.
From Surprise Pick to Sudden Split
As the season was winding down, viewers were convinced John would end up with Lily, whose values and long-term goals seemed more in line with his own.
Instead, he followed his heart and picked Claire.
“Claire and I got along on a more surface level,” John told Taste of Country after the finale. “She and I made each other laugh a lot, just generally had a good time together.”
Still, he admitted the choice “got down pretty close at the end,” adding that the two weren’t always allowed to have deeper conversations off camera.
