Jason Aldean Sings with Miranda Lambert in Surprise Performance

Jason Aldean was a surprise guest at Miranda Lambert‘s Band Together Texas benefit concert on Sunday (Aug. 17).

In addition to his lively rendition of his chart-topper “She’s Country,” the country singer invited Lambert on stage to sing a unique duet version of “Amarillo Sky.”

The song was fitting, given the show’s Texas theme, as it name-drops a city in the Lone Star State. The moment also stirred up some 2018 vibes, when the two released “Drowns the Whiskey.”

Aldean took the lead on the duo’s performancem with Lambert jumping in to add some harmonies on the song’s chorus.

Why Did Jason Aldean Join Band Together Texas?

The “Whiskey Drink” was a surprise guest for the fundraising show, and it worked out well since he was already in Texas.

Aldean’s Full Throttle Tour 2025 stopped at the venue, the Moody Center in Austin, just one night prior (Aug. 16).

Since he was in town, Aldean was a top choice to replace Kelly Clarkson on the show’s lineup.

The talk show host and Texas native was booked to perform at Band Together Texas, but pulled out of the show last week after her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock died.

According to Blackstock’s obituary, funeral services for the talent manager were scheduled for the same day as Band Together Texas.

How Much Money Did Band Together Texas Raise?

Lambert’s Band Together Texas was a huge success: The event raised more than $8.5 million for flood victims. Funds from the show will help those affected by the torrential flooding that took place in central Texas over Fourth of July Weekend.

Band Together Texas brought together several Texas natives to entertain and generate donations. Parker McCollum, Cody Johnson, Ronnie Dunn, Ryan Bingham and more took the stage to perform during the show.

Celebrities like Matthew McConaughey, Dennis Quaid and other were also a part of the event.
