Lauren Alaina has Martina McBride to thank for helping her navigate the tough days of early motherhood.
She shared more during a chat with Taste of Country Nights when asked if any country moms have helped her throughout the journey.
Alaina welcomed her first child, a baby girl named Beni, in June.
“Martina McBride, actually,” she reveals. “She texted me a couple of weeks ago and talked to me about taking the baby on the road.”
Alaina admits she’s feeling nervous, because she returns to the road soon.
“I’m super freaked out to be leaving our home … and taking her on the road,” she says. “I had no idea the world of being a mom.”
McBride appeared on Alaina’s podcast LA Lately recently where she shared her story of going on tour while pregnant, like Alaina has had to do in the past year.
Alaina was pregnant while on Rascal Flatts‘ Life Is a Highway Tour earlier this year, while McBride was pregnant while opening up for Brooks & Dunn in the mid-90s.
Of taking baby girl on tour with her, Alaina realizes she might have been overconfident before baby was here.
“I was like, ‘Yeah, 12 weeks? We’ll totally be ready then to hit the road,'” she admits, “and now we’re almost twelve weeks out and I’m like, ‘What was I thinking?'”
Lauren Alaina will perform some headlining shows starting Aug. 28 in Evans, Ga. She’s back with Rascal Flatts starting early next year (Jan. 15).
The “Road Less Traveled” singer says she has also heard from MacKenzie Porter about being a new mom and touring: “She talked to me about getting back out on the road and balancing everything.”
“I’ve got a good community of moms around, actually,” Alaina says.
