Morgan Wallen will decline to submit his I’m the Problem album for Grammy Awards consideration in 2026, an anonymous source reportedly told Hits Daily Double.
The sources describe Wallen’s decision as “a measured ‘No, thank you'” after Wallen has been snubbed at the Grammy Awards in the past, but stopped short of saying there’s bad blood between the singer and the Recording Academy.
Billboard confirmed that Wallen’s not planning to submit his hit album for Grammy consideration.
The outlet also reports that that decision extends to all 37 songs on I’m the Problem, and Wallen himself.
Morgan Wallen’s Chart Success Isn’t “The Problem”
This news comes as I’m the Problem reigns atop the Billboard 200 albums chart for an 11th non-consecutive week, according to the chart dated Aug. 23.
The album had a 10-week streak at the top of the chart after its release in May, then dropped for two weeks before returning to No. 1.
Why Doesn’t Morgan Wallen Want to Be a Grammys Contender?
Wallen and his team haven’t given any official reason why he’s not sending I’m the Problem for consideration.
But for the past couple of years, the singer has been de-prioritizing awards shows in favor of other success metrics, including radio and live concerts.
In 2024, he skipped the CMA Awards on a night when he won the show’s biggest honor, Entertainer of the Year.

Wallen didn’t issue any kind of “thank you” speech afterward. In fact, he didn’t publicly acknowledge his win at all until four months later, when he posted a photo of his trophy as one of the slides in a social media recap.
Months later, he skipped country music’s other biggest awards show when the ACM Awards rolled around. Wallen was nominated in the Entertainer of the Year category that night, too, but didn’t win (Lainey Wilson did).
Does Morgan Wallen Have a Problem-atic History With Awards Shows?
Many fans have theories that Wallen has a chip on his shoulder regarding awards shows.
The bulk of those center around the major Nashville shows’ decision to exclude the singer either from consideration or from performance in 2021, after the incident where he was caught on camera using a racist slur.
However, there’s also evidence against that theory.
While he wasn’t eligible for any awards in 2022, Wallen did return to the stage at the CMA Awards that year to sing “You Proof.”
He was back again at the next year’s awards show, this time singing a Joe Diffie tribute with Hardy and his Eric Church duet, “Man Made a Bar.”
Did the Grammy Awards Snub Morgan Wallen?
Arguably, yes.
Wallen has zero Grammy trophies to his name, despite being one of the very biggest and most prolific acts in country music.
In 2025, he was nominated for two awards at the show — Best Country Song and Best Country Duo/Group Performance — but didn’t take home either win. Both of his nominations came from “I Had Some Help,” his duet with Post Malone.
Wallen didn’t have an eligible album for contention at that ceremony. But a year prior, his massively successful One Thing at a Time album was eligible, and didn’t even score a Best Country Album nomination.
His hit song “Last Night” was up for Best Country Song, but that award goes to songwriters. So even if it had won the category (and it didn’t — Chris Stapleton‘s “White Horse” did), Wallen still wouldn’t have taken home a trophy.
Have Any Other Big Country Stars Declined to Submit Their Music for Grammys Consideration?
Yes. Last fall, Zach Bryan withheld his music from consideration at the 2025 awards show, in any category.
Eligible that year was Bryan’s The Great American Bar Scene, which includes the hit single “Pink Skies.” That would have been a likely contender in song and single-specific categories, since it was a hit on several different charts.

Bryan didn’t offer any official statement about his decision. An anonymous source told Variety that the musician “does not feel comfortable with awards shows making music competitive.”
