Ransom Canyon is set to return for a second season on Netflix, and according to reports, the new episodes will bring several changes to the cast of the hit show.
Who Is Returning to Ransom Canyon for Season 2?
According to Hello, the series’ two lead actors, Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly, are set to return for Season 2.
Duhamel plays rancher Staten Kirkland, while Kelly plays local dancehall owner Quinn O’Grady. The long friendship between their characters turned into a tempestuous, on-again off-again romance that was left unresolved at the end of the first season.
Most of the rest of the cast from Season 1 is also expected to return, including Lizzy Greene, Garret Wareing and Jack Schumacher.

Eoin Macken, Andrew Liner and Marianly Tejada are also part of the cast for Ransom Canyon Season 2.
What Cast Changes Are Coming to Ransom Canyon Season 2?
James Brolin’s character of Cap Fuller died of a heart attack at the conclusion of Season 1, and so far, it does not appear he’ll return in the role in any flashbacks.
Casey W. Johnson’s character of Kit Russell was a recurring role in Season 1, but as Deadline reports, he’s been bumped up to a series regular for Season 2, meaning fans will be seeing more of his character.
Additionally, Season 2 will welcome Erica Dasher as the wife of Schumacher’s character, Yancy. She was introduced to fans ever-so-briefly in a stunning plot twist at the end of the first season.
What Will Happen in Ransom Canyon Season 2?
The small Texas town of Ransom was being threatened by developers as Season 1 came to a close. Season 2 will explore more of that, as well as the relationship between Staten and Quinn.
According to a description from producers, “As the battle to save Ransom wages on, a mysterious cowboy drifts into town, dredging up secrets from the past. Vise tightening, Staten fights to protect the land he calls home — and the only love that can pull him back from the demons that haunt him.”
Ransom Canyon showrunner April Blair has also revealed that there will probably be a time jump of six months between Season 1 and Season 2.
Season 1 ended with Quinn — a former concert pianist who quit her career to move back home after a shattering setback — accepting a six-month playing gig in New York City, which proved one more complication in her relationship with Staten.
“We would need to [have a time jump] because I don’t want to do anything in New York,” Blair told TV Insider.
“I think we would probably do that because she says, ‘I’m going to go away for six months.’ So the idea right now, although nothing’s set in stone, is that we would do at least a six-month time jump.”
When Does Production Begin on Ransom Canyon Season 2?
According to Hello, production will begin in September at Amazon Studios Albuquerque in New Mexico.
The production will utilize solar power, geothermal heating and cooling and more to lower production costs and reduce the series’ carbon footprint.
Ransom Canyon is based on a popular series of books by Jodi Thomas, and while Season 1 did not follow the books exactly, fans can reference the source material to find out what might happen next.
When Will Ransom Canyon Season 2 Premiere?
Netflix has not yet announced when Ransom Canyon will return.
