The Colombian superstar, who last performed at the festival in 2022, has secured the Sunday night slot for 2026
Karol G is set to make history next year as the first Latina artist to headline Coachella.
The Colombian superstar was confirmed as the festival’s Sunday night headliner, with her performances scheduled for April 12 and 19. Karol’s history-making Coachella set will take place just three years after Bad Bunny became the first Latino artist to headline Coachella in 2023.
Karol G celebrated the news with a short but exuberant post on Instagram, writing, “LA BICHOTA ES HEADLINER🔥 Nos vemos en el desierto.”
This will be Karol G’s second time performing at Coachella, after she first took the stage there in 2022 while promoting her third LP, KG0516. During that memorable set, Karol performed a medley of Latin crossover hits that included songs like Selena’s “Como La Flor,” Daddy Yankee’s “Gasolina,” Shakira’s “Hips Don’t Lie,” Luis Fonsi’s “Despacito,” and J Balvin and Willy William’s “Mi Gente” (with Balvin himself making a cameo).
Speaking with Rolling Stone earlier this year, Karol said she kept returning to that Coachella performance as she began to conceptualize her newest album, Tropicoqueta. “I remembered when I told my team I wanted to do that [medley] at Coachella, it was like I was saying I wanted to be that kind of artist in the future, the Latin artist that is super Latina for the world,” she said. “I visualized my future self to be part of that list of artists one day. I started to go back to that idea and stayed with it. I asked myself, ‘Who is Karol G? Where do I go? What am I going to do?’”
Karol G released Tropicoqueta in June. After spending much of 2023 and 2024 touring in support of Mañana Será Bonito, she’s yet to announce any additional tour dates beyond her Coachella performance.
Rolling Stone broke the news that Karol G and Sabrina Carpenter were set to headline Coachella last week. The full lineup reveal confirmed that Justin Bieber would be the third headliner.
