Neil Young is returning to the grounds of the Painted Turtle summer camp in Lake Hughes, California, on Oct. 25 for the third Harvest Moon benefit show. He’ll be joined by Lana Del Rey, Beck, and the marimba ensemble Masanga. Ticket sales begin Sept. 24 via the event’s official website.
Proceeds from the concert will benefit the Painted Turtle, which provides a summer camp experience for kids with serious medical issues, and the Bridge School, which educates children with severe speech and physical disabilities.
“We’re honored to welcome Neil Young, Lana Del Rey, and Beck to Harvest Moon this year,” April Tani, Executive Director of The Painted Turtle, said in a statement. “This gathering, where music, nature, and purpose come together, is a powerful celebration of hope and community. It’s an opportunity for all of us to support two extraordinary organizations making a real difference in children’s lives.”
The inaugural Harvest Moon show at the Painted Turtle was held Sept. 14, 2019, and featured performances by Young, Norah Jones, and Father John Misty. It concluded with Young and Jones duetting on “Harvest Moon” and “The Losing End.”
The second Harvest Moon took place Oct. 24, 2024. Masanga, Lily Meola, and John Mayer played before Young teamed up with Stephen Stills for a stunning set of vintage classics including “Helplessly Hoping,” “Helpless,” “For What It’s Worth,” and the first live performance of the Buffalo Springfield classic “Hung Upside Down” since 1967. It ended with a fiery “Rockin’ in the Free World” where Young, Stills, and Mayer traded off licks.
The upcoming Painted Turtle will cap off a busy year of live performances for Young that took him all across the United States and Europe with his new group, the Chrome Hearts.
