A few hours before Clairo took the stage at All Things Go at New York’s Forest Hills Stadium on Sunday evening, she shared a rare TikTok post reflecting on the milestone performance. “I really never thought that we would be able to headline a show like this,” she said. “I always dreamt of it, you know, but it’s so hard to tell what will happen.” The singer-songwriter was living the dream, but it came to an abrupt end when her microphone was turned off during “Juna” due to a strict noise ordinance at the venue.
“The festival cut us off. No idea why,” Clairo wrote on X shortly after 10 p.m., when the venue curfew typically goes into effect. “Really sad we couldn’t do our big finish, more surprised they cut my mic mid song. Sad honestly doesn’t even explain it – I’m sorry.” In a follow-up post about 20 minutes later, she added: “They didn’t tell us about the noise ordinance btw.”
Clairo made it through 18 songs, but was unable to perform fan-favorites “Bags” and “Sofia,” which usually closes out each of her live sets. In a video from the show, the singer is seen asking crew members to turn her microphone back on, but they declined in compliance with the venue policy. She told a fan on X, “I asked if I could pay [a fine to finish the set] apparently there was nothing I could do.”
“We got cut off but that was a beautiful show nonetheless. I’m really sorry. And I love you,” Clairo wrote on Instagram. “I wish I could have had more time with you . But I loved every minute of it!”
Clairo also performed at All Things Go in Columbia, Maryland at Merriweather Post Pavilion on Saturday. Her set came earlier in the day and featured an abridged version of the setlist she planned for her headlining set.
“I’m just thinking about all the tours we put on and all the shows we’ve played, and all the time spent with you guys and meeting my band and meeting everyone I make music with,” she said on TikTok. “It just feels like a moment of reflection that I’m really so grateful for. I really couldn’t have anticipated the type of reaction that the world would have towards me and I’m feeling very sentimental about everything we’ve done.”
She continued: “I’m so thankful. Thank you for being here, and thanks if you’re coming tonight. If you’re not, I wish you were. It’s been a really beautiful experience. I’ve spent my last however many years really dedicating myself to this and really trying and seeing what would happen, and starting a lot of new chapters in my life. It just feels so amazing to be at this place. I don’t take it for granted. I’m feeling crazy, will probably cry later. But thank you.”
