The Alchemist & Hit-Boy Announce Joint Album ‘Goldfish’

Two of the best hip-hop producers in the game today are joining forces for a full-length collaboration.

The Alchemist and Hit-Boy have announced they’re dropping a joint album called Goldfish on October 24 via EMPIRE.

The project, which will see the two beatmaker-MCs rapping over each other’s beats à la J Dilla and Madlib‘s Jaylib, will also be accompanied by a short film of the same name.

According to a press release, the film will feature appearances from Danny Trejo (Heat, Con Air), Simon Rex (Scary Movie 3) and others, and follows “a squad of hit men disguised as carpet cleaners attempting to leave a life of crime in a chaotic flurry of events.”

As for the album itself, The Alchemist and Hit-Boy kickstarted the rollout last week with the release of the lead single “Business Merger.”

Featuring thumping, horn-laced production from Uncle Al, the high-energy song found the dynamic duo trading clever, confident verses — reminding fans they’re as nice on the mic as their rapper counterparts.

The Alchemist and Hit-Boy’s chemistry is no surprise given they’ve already released two joint projects together: the three-song Theodore & Andre EP and Black & Whites, a collaboration with Hit-Boy’s father and fellow rapper Big Hit.

The pair also dropped the one-off single “Slipping Into Darkness” and split production credits on Benny The Butcher‘s Def Jam debut Everybody Can’t Go.
