Drake Milligan stopped by the Taste of Country Nights studio and it turns out, he’s got some surprising knowledge about what George Strait and the late Elvis Presley have in common.
Turns out, both mastered the art of leaving an event without saying goodbye to anyone.
Milligan played Presley on the CMT show Sun Records.
There, he got to learn first-hand just how smooth Elvis was at leaving a building after an event. He heard those stories from Elvis’ closest living friends and relatives before portraying The King in the series.
“I did get to hang out a lot with George Klein, one of Elvis’ best friends from high school,” Milligan tells us. “He would ride around in the golf cart with me while I played golf and just feed me stories.'”
Here’s where the king of country music, George Strait comes into play. He is one of Milligan’s idols, so we asked if he has ever gotten to meet him.

“No I haven’t,” he responds. “He’s eluded me so many times. There’s been so many events I’ve been at, where I’ve had backstage access and tried to like, catch him coming out somewhere.”
“That dude is like Elvis,” Milligan adds. “He will get on stage and then he’s gone.”
We were itching to know if Milligan left with any memorabilia after playing Elvis on Sun Records.
“No, I don’t have any memorabilia yet. I do want something, I’m gonna find something one of these days to spend some money on,” he answers.
