Jelly Roll Reveals Secret Jail Food Recipes

After his stunning 200+ pound weight loss over the past year and change, it is clear to see that Jelly Roll is eating way better than he did in the past.

But what exactly was the singer eating back in the day?

Most fans already know that as a young person, Jelly was in and out of jails and detention centers. His most serious conviction was for aggravated assault, and he served a year in prison and seven years’ probation for that crime.

Safe to say he didn’t have access to the health foods he eats today when he was locked up. But that doesn’t mean he didn’t have the occasional treat.

What’s Jelly Roll’s Favorite “Jail Food” Recipe?

Jelly Roll revealed to Taste of Country Nights his secret jail-food recipe from his time in custody, and to be honest, I want to race home to try to cook it up.

“You take the flaming hot Cheetos and you crunch ’em down, then you put a little water in that to kind of patty them out,” the singer explained to Taste of Country Nights’ Evan Paul.

“You can chop up some of the little beef sticks in ’em, pour a little cheese over the top of ’em, and you stick ’em on crackers, it’s actually really good!” he continued.

Jelly Roll says he doesn’t make jail food anymore not only because he eats better nowadays, but he tries to leave his past in the past. That stuff brings up old memories that he would like to forget. But he got a good laugh out of telling the story.

He also dished to us another exclusive jail food recipe, and this one is his favorite.

“My favorite one is when you took two of the Grandma’s cookies, and you put a Moon Pie and a Snickers in ’em, and you put it in the microwave and make you an ol’ lil’ cake pie or something,” he describes.

Again, he’s not making any homemade cookie pies in the microwave these days.

“That stuff is bad luck. I believe what’s in jail stays in jail, you know what I’m sayin’?” Jelly adds.

He might not be as savvy in the makeshift kitchen as Martha Stewart when she was locked up, but Jelly Roll insists his jail recipes slap.

Why Was Jelly Roll in Jail?

Jelly Roll was in jail for a few different charges, including aggravated robbery and drug possession with intent to sell.

How Old is Jelly Roll?

Jelly Roll is 40 years-old. He was born on December 4, 1984.
