Banks Announces Album ‘Off With Her Head,’ Drops ‘Best Friends’ LISTEN

The singer accompanies the LP reveal with new single “Best Friends”

Banks isn’t holding back on her new album. On Friday, the musician released her single “Best Friends” and announced her fifth studio LP, Off With Her Head, out Feb. 28.

The new track details the growing pains of a fading friendship. Meanwhile, the album itself is set to be a follow-up to Banks’ fan-favorite, debut album Goddess, which she describes as its “big sister.” (2024 marks Goddess‘ 10th anniversary.)

“After a decade apart, I’ve reunited with the core musicians and producers who shaped my debut,” Banks said in a statement about the LP. “Yet, it also represents something entirely new, reflecting my growth as both an artist and a person.”

Last month, Banks launched her new album era by tapping Doechii for single “I Hate Your Ex-Girlfriend.” The album will include 12 songs, including tracks titled “Delulu,” “Direction,” “River,” and “Meddle in the Mold.”

Off With Her Head follows 2022’s Serpentina, which was her first project as an independent artist. (Before then, she released Goddess in 2014, The Altar in 2016, and III in 2019.) She told Rolling Stone in 2022 that she felt like a “serpent queen” while making Serpentina. “I found this new confidence in my own creativity, in my gut intuition, and in my own opinions,” she said at the time.
